This is the critical data point. If Nvidia's investment includes compute discounts or infrastructure support, it could meaningfully alter Perplexity's margin profile. The primary signal is that Nvidia sees the application layer as the battleground for infrastructure dominance. Every query processed through Perplexity is a query that runs on Nvidia silicon. That is the moat being built. The takeaway is not about Perplexity's prospects. It is about the structural shift in how AI infrastructure is financed. Nvidia is no longer just a hardware vendor. It is a capital allocator shaping the competitive landscape of the applications that consume its chips. The "compute landlord" model will define the next phase of AI industry consolidation. The question is whether regulators will allow it to stand. Hype is noise. Standards are signal. The standard being set here is that compute access comes with strings attached.
